HARTFORD, CT. – In a thrilling open to the fall portion of the season, the Wesleyan women's varsity 8 crew team picked up a sixth-place finish out of a field of 35 boats at the Riverfront Regatta on Sunday morning as two boats finished in the Top 20.
RESULTS
The Cardinals opened the 2024-25 season in the same place as last year's finish but beat out 27 other teams this time around. Rhode Island claimed first place with a final clocked time of 16:44.90. Filling in the Top 5 behind Rhode Island was Williams, UConn, Trinity, and Riverside.
The women's varsity 8 crossed the finish line in just over 17 minutes, totaling a 17:20.05. The boat consisted of Ava Olsen '25 (coxswain),

th as they came in at 17:57.83. The second varsity 8 finished five places ahead of last year's boat.

The morning didn't end with just top finishes in the women's open flight. The Cardinals' novice 4 took first place with a final time of 20:07.34, beating out Wentworth Rowing, West Point, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Romer,

The Cardinals return to the water on Saturday, Oct. 19, when they compete in the Head of the Charles in Cambridge, MA.
