MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Wesleyan women's swimming & diving team completed the final day of the 2024 NESCAC Championships, earning 563.5 points for the four-day competition, which was good enough for ninth place out of 11 teams. Williams won the title with over 2000 team points while Tufts was the runner-up.
Olivia Stevenson '25 started the day competing in the 1650 free. She clocked in at 18:11.30 to earn 20
th place out of 37 in the one-mile event.
The group of Cardinals competing in the 200 back all showed well as
Izzy Pennington '24 hit a new personal-best, finishing the event in 2:05.15 (1.6 seconds faster than her preliminary time) which earned her a tie for 11
th place overall.
Mia Dezelic '27 showed out in a big way in the preconsolation final, finishing in a personal-best 2:04.96 to take second place in the heat and 18
th overall. Out of all three finals (championship, consolation, preconsolation) Dezelic's time of 2:04.96 was the eighth-fastest overall and third-fastest among first-years.
Victoria Carroll '24 rounded out the event placing 23
rd overall with a time of 2:08.40 in the preconsolation final.
Zoe Kuhn '26 continued a day littered with personal-best times with a PR of 52.50 seconds in the 100 free, which was good enough for 11
th overall (third-fastest in the consolation final).
Sara Bohacek '26 clocked in at 2:23.38, which is a new personal-best time, in the 200 breast. That time was nearly two seconds faster than her preliminary time (2:25.24) and was the fastest in the preconsolation final, giving her 17
th place overall in the event.
Rounding out the individual events was
Izzy Paez '26 who earned a sixth-place finish in the championship final of the 200 fly, touching the wall in 2:05.65. Just one day removed from her record-setting time in the 100 fly, this performance gives Paez a pair of sixth place finishes at the NESCAC Championships.
The final event of the Championships was the 400 free relay and the Cardinals' A team of Paez,
Anne Conway '26,
Bella Kellner '24, and Kuhn clocked in at 3:33.43 to earn ninth place.
Other Cardinals who hit a new personal-best included
Sadie Woodruff '26 in the 200 breast (2:29.83),
Eloise Lavacek '24 in the 100 free (55.12), and Carroll in the 200 back preliminary (2:07.70).
