Molly Brumbach Named NESCAC Player of the Week

MIDDLETOWN, CT. - Following an exceptional effort in goal over the weekend, Wesleyan women's soccer senior goalkeeper Molly Brumbach earned her third career NESCAC Player of the Week honor, her first of the season, as announced by the conference office on Monday, Oct. 27.

Posting her ninth overall shutout of the season in a 1-0 shutdown of Colby College, Brumbach's performance against the Mules was nothing short of the senior's set standard. Brumbach spearheaded a stellar defensive effort from the Cardinals, making eight saves while on the road at Colby. Her steady presence in net kept the Mules at bay in a game where Colby outshot Wesleyan 34-11 including a 20-2 disparity in the second half. Brumbach made four saves in both the first and second half and helped defend 12 corner kicks by the Mules.

Brumbach currently ranks Top 5 in the NESCAC in all statistical categories for goalkeepers. Two of Brumbach's shutouts were scoreless draws against Bates and Tufts.

The Cardinals (8-3-3 overall, 3-3-3 NESCAC) close out the regular season on Tuesday, Oct. 28, when they host Conn. at 5 p.m.
