MIDDLETOWN, Conn. -
Elise Kurtis '29 of the Wesleyan women's lacrosse team was named the National Division III Player of the Week by
USA Lacrosse Magazine on Tuesday afternoon. The first-year defender Kurtis earns the national honor after having played in just two collegiate games.
Kurtis has burst onto the scene in her rookie season, having shined last Saturday in the Cardinals' lone game last week, posting four ground balls and three caused turnovers in a 10-7 win over then-No. 9 ranked Franklin & Marshall on Smith Field. Kurtis led all field players in both stat categories against F&M and helped lead the Cardinals to a signature Top 10 win just two weeks into the season. Kurtis also shined in the season-opening 15-5 win at Bates, totaling three caused turnovers and one ground ball against the Bobcats.
Wesleyan is back in action on Wednesday as the Cardinals head to No. 16 Stevens for a 7 PM start in Hoboken.
