MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan men's swimming and diving team concluded the regular season with a 189-108 defeat to Conn. College on Friday night from the Wesleyan Natatorium. Wesleyan (4-8) also honored its senior class prior to the start of competition in what was the final home meet of their careers.

Mason Polaner '24 got things started for Wesleyan with a win in the 200 free, an event he has dominated all season, with a season-best time of 1:43.42, besting the second place finisher Marc Stern (Conn. College) by more than three full seconds.
The Cardinals showed well in the 100 breast as
Tim Stephenson '24 edged out AJ Steininger with a mark of 59.90 seconds compared to 59.92 seconds for Steininger.
Andrew Kim '25 posted a third place finish in the same event with a time of 1:01.87.
Eric Tran '23 and
Harrison Hong '25 finished second and third, respectively, in the 200 fly as Tran posted 1:55.07 while Hong clocked in at 1:56.46.
Stephenson very nearly made it two wins on the day as he placed second in the 200 breast, touching the wall in 2:11.92, just behind Dash Hunter's 2:11.48 for the Camels. Polaner joined Stephenson with another strong showing later in the day, as the sophomore had a time of 4:45.21 in the 500 free compared to Charlie Adl who posted 4:45.15 to edge out Polaner for the win.
Hong came through with a win in the 100 fly as the first-year posted his fastest time of the season at 51.86 seconds. Tran also competed in the event and took third with 52.52 seconds.
The 200 IM was dominated by Wesleyan as the top four finishers were all Cardinals.
Jacob Lafferty '23 was the fastest with a time of 2:01.63 while
Lucas Pirner '25 grabbed second (2:02.70),
Nicky Wang '25 was third (2:03.97) followed by
Ryan Kobayashi '25 in fourth (2:04.52).
The Cardinals will look to use these next three weeks to properly prepare for the NESCAC Championships set for Feb. 17-20 at Colby College.
