AMHERST, MA. – The Wesleyan women's hockey team will compete in the NESCAC Tournament for the 2
nd consecutive year and the 9
th time in program history. The Cardinals earned an eight seed in the tournament and will travel to Massachusetts to take on the #1 seeded Mammoths of Amherst. The Cardinals will look for the first round upset and their 1
st trip to the NESCAC Semifinals in school history.
WESLEYAN SCOUTING REPORT
- Wesleyan is competing in their 9th NESCAC Tournament, looking for their 1st ever conference tournament title
- #8 Wesleyan was defeated in the first round of the NESCAC Tournament last season by #9 Colby 3-2 (2OT)
- The Cardinals were nationally ranked for the first time in school history this year, coming in at No.15 in the USCHO January 9th poll
- Wesleyan started the season 8-1-1 with three wins over NESCAC opponents
- The Cardinals have six players with at least three goals
CARDINALS TO WATCH
- Christina Tournas '25 leads the team in goals (4), assists (6), and points (10). Tournas is lethal in power play situations, scoring three of her four goals on the season in those situations which ranks t-6th in the NESCAC
- Jenna Stevens '24 is one of the better defenders on this Cardinals squad, and is 2nd on the team with eight points. The junior defender has been one of the better shot blockers in the conference this year, managing to step in front of 26 shots in 24 games in 2022-23 ranking 5th in the NESCAC
- She is joined on the back line by Bridget Cornell '23. Cornell is tied for second on the team in goals with three. Cornell also ranks 3rd on the team in total points (7), having contributed four assists as well
- Brooke Keough '23 is one of the better distributors on the team, totaling five assists to go with her singular goal on the season. Effie Tournas '25 has also been a key distributor along the front line with four assists, while also having the capability to score (three goals)
- Caroline Kee '26 and Caroline Mezias '25 have the ability to score and distribute as well, each having three goals and assists apiece.
- Rei Halloran '23 is the goalie for the Cardinals. The senior has made a conference-leading 560 saves in 23 games of action. She holds a .905 save percentage and a record of 9-13-1 with four shutouts
AMHERST SCOUTING REPORT
- The Mammoths reach the NESCAC Tournament for the 20th time, looking to win their 5th NESCAC Championship
- #3 Amherst was defeated in last year's NESCAC Tournament Championship by #1 Middlebury 2-0 after defeating #6 Bowdoin in the quarterfinals (5-0) and #2 Colby in the semifinals (2-1 OT)
- Amherst has scored the most goals in the NESCAC at 84 in 24 games while allowing the fewest goals (26) over that same span
- They also lead the conference in goals, points, assists, penalty kill percentage, and faceoff winning percentage
MAMMOTHS TO WATCH
- Rylee Glennon can do it all for the Mammoths, leading the team in goals, assists and points. Glennon ranks t-5th in the NESCAC in goals (12), 2nd in points with 27, and t-1st in assists with 15. She also tops the conference in shots with 106 in 24 games, while scoring three power play goals (t-6th NESCAC)
- Kate Pohl and Maeve Reynolds contribute both in the scoring and distributing categories for the Mammoths. Pohl is tied for 5th in the conference with 12 goals while producing 10 assists that combine for 22 total points (4th NESCAC). Reynolds is right behind Glennon and Pohl with 11 goals on the season (7th NESCAC), putting together 11 assists (t-9th NESCAC) for a combined total of 22 points (t-4th NESCAC)
- Amherst has eight players with double-digit assists on the season, and Avery Flynn might be the best out of the bunch. The senior defender is tied for the team-lead with 15 assists (t-1st NESCAC), and is top 10 in the conference in points. Despite only scoring four times this year, Flynn loves to put shots on net, totaling 88 shots (7th NESCAC) in 24 games of action
- The Mammoths are led in net by a first-year goalie in Natalie Stott. Stott leads the conference in goals allowed average at 1.14. She has made 425 saves over her 23 games, totaling a save percentage of .942 which is third in the conference. The first-year keeper also leads the conference in shutouts with nine
SERIES HISTORY
- This will be the 65th meeting between these two NESCAC schools with Wesleyan holding a 22-38-4 record against their counterparts
- Wesleyan is 9-20-1 when having to play on the road at Orr Rink
- This will be the first time that the two schools have met in the NESCAC Tournament

NESCAC TOURNAMENT INFO
- Quarterfinal games will be conducted on Saturday, February 25 with the semifinals and championship games conducted on Saturday, March 4 and Sunday, March 5, respectively. The tournament champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.
