BERLIN, CT. – The Wesleyan men's golf team opened their spring season at the Bill Detrick Invitational at the Timberlin Golf Club in Berlin, Connecticut. The Cardinals placed 6
th out of the nine teams competing, finishing with a team score of 628 (+52). Trinity claimed 1
st place (583, +7) followed by Tufts in 2
nd place (596, +20).
Ambrose Koo '23 led the way for the Cardinals, shooting a +9 (78-75-153) for the weekend. Koo finished the second round shooting a 75 and was the only Cardinal to shoot a sub-79 in both rounds.
Puthip Puvacharoen '24 put together an impressive second round, tying Koo by shooting a 75. Puvacharoen finished third for the Cardinals, ending with a +15 (84-75-159).
Daniel Kraft '23 placed 2
nd for the Cardinals shooting a +14 (77-81-158), he finished with the best first round for the Cardinals.
Owen Cannizzo '25 and
Jacob Fain '23 got better as the weekend went on, both finishing with better second round scores. Cannizzo finished 4
th for the Cardinals, shooting a +17 (81-80-161), while Fain finished by shooting a +18 (83-79-162).
Wesleyan will return to the course Tuesday April 18
th, where they will compete in the Little Three Championship that will be held at Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley, Massachusetts.
