AUBURN, Me. – The Wesleyan men's golf team closed out the 2022-23 season with a ninth place finish out of 10 teams at the 2023 NESCAC Championship hosted by Bates College at the Martindale Country Club. The course was deemed unplayable early Sunday, therefore all 10 teams played 27 holes over two days of competition.
Jacob Fain '23 carded the lowest round of the tournament for the Cardinals, finishing with a 77-40-117 over 18 holes on Saturday and nine on Sunday. Fain's 117 (+11) for the tournament placed him in a tie for 28
th place overall.
Both
Fisher Hirsch '26 and
Ambrose Koo '23 finished one stroke behind Fain with a 118 for the weekend. Hirsch and Koo carded a 78 on Saturday and followed with a 40 on Sunday.
Rounding out the lineup for Wesleyan was
Daniel Kraft '23 (84-35-119) and
Puthip Puvacharoen '24 (86-44-130). Kraft's 35 on Sunday was lower than any score posted by any member of the NESCAC Champion Middlebury squad.
As a team, Wesleyan shot 472 (+48) for the tournament.
