WATERVILLE, Me. – The Wesleyan men's swimming & diving team captured six first place finishes on Saturday in a dual meet that the Cardinals lost to Colby, 204-113.
Four Cardinals claimed wins on the day including two each for
Harrison Hong '25 and
Nathan Wu '28 while
Devayan Roychoudhury '26 and
Brody Schrepfer '28 also claimed one win each.
Hong's two wins came in the 100 fly and 50 free while he also had a runner-up and third place finish in the relay portion to complete his day. Hong dominated the 100 fly, finishing in 49.87 seconds which was nearly two seconds faster than the runner-up (51.70). Hong's win in the 50 free came down to 0.05 seconds as he touched the wall in 21.31 seconds, finishing just ahead of Ethan Chang from Colby who clocked in at 21.36. His runner-up finish came in the 50 back (24.18) while he led the Wesleyan 200 free relay team to third place at 1:27.79.
Wu opened with a convincing win in the 100 breast, finishing with a time of 58.82 seconds which was almost three seconds faster than Roychoudhury (1:01.60) who was runner-up in the event. The 200 breast played out much the same as Wu clocked in at 2:14.83, finishing well ahead of the second place finisher (2:17.36). Wu joined Hong on the 200 free relay team that finished in third.
In a thrilling 50 breast event, Roychoudhury outkicked two Colby opponents to finish in 27.84 seconds, edging out the second place finisher by 0.01 seconds and the third place finisher by 0.04 seconds.
Schrepfer won the 200 IM with a sub-2 minute time of 1:59.49 while he added a second place finish in the 200 free (1:47.62) and third place result in the 200 back (2:07.38).
Wesleyan is back in action on Saturday, February 1 with a trip to Connecticut College for a 1 PM start.
