MIDDLETOWN, CT. – Earning the first All-NESCAC selection for the Wesleyan men's hockey team in two years,
Owen Sweet '25 earned his first conference honors, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday, March 5, as he received a Second Team selection.
The senior forward from Madison, CT, takes home his first conference honors as an All-NESCAC Second Team honoree following his senior season as the Cardinals' scoring leader. Serving twice as captain in his final years, Sweet consistently led the scoring front during his time at Wesleyan and this season was named a semifinalist for the Joe Concannon award.
The 24-25 season saw nine goals from Sweet as he retained a .225 shot percentage, including one power play goal, while assisting on 14 of his teammates' goals. Sweet finished second in assists and points (23) only to teammate

Within the NESCAC, Sweet ranked Top 10 in a handful of statistical categories. Sweet's nine goals finished 10
th in the conference scoring race while his 14 assists ranked eighth. Sweet's highest placement was fifth in conference points before finishing ninth with .96 points per game.
Over the course of his career with the Cardinals, Sweet has recorded 30 goals, 36 assists, and 66 points on the books through 93 games. Eight of those 30 goals were scored on the power play with another four scored while down a man. Sweet's freshman and sophomore seasons saw the Cardinals reach the NESCAC quarterfinals twice as the 22-23 team went 15-7-3 overall.
On Thursday, Feb. 6, Sweet was named one of 40 semifinalists for the 24
th annual Joe Concannon Award as announced by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston. The award is presented to the best American-born NCAA Division II/III men's hockey player in New England.
Highlighted amongst the largest semifinal field to date, Sweet was one of 11 NESCAC honorees and the first for the Cardinals in over a year. The award, created in 2001 to honor the legacy of former Boston Globe reporter Joe Concannon, has been presented to two Cardinals in its 24-year history.
Sweet's efforts in the Jan. 14, upset of No. 10 Endicott resulted in the set up and assist on
Hayden Hanes' '27 game-winning goal halfway through the third period. In the Jan. 26, 6-3, conference win over Conn. College, Sweet scored two goals including one of two empty net goals for the Cardinals.
