Hall of Fame Inductees
Joining fellow inductee Karen Borza Arabas ’84, Ellen is another NCAA track & field individual national champion earning her spot into the Wesleyan Hall of Fame. Davis is a five-time All-American across her career, earning three in indoor track and twice in cross country), while she won a national title in the 5000m during the 2007 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Davis’ 2006-07 senior season began with a career-best ninth place finish overall at the 2006 NCAA Cross Country Championships, followed by her NCAA 5000m title in the indoor track season. She even had the fastest 5000m time during the outdoor track season, but she chose not to compete in the NCAA Championships, allowing her instead to attend her graduation at Wesleyan that same weekend where she received her bachelor’s degree in feminist gender and sexuality studies.
She is one of just two Cardinals in the history of Wesleyan women’s cross country to place Top 10 overall at an NCAA Championship meet while she is one of just four Cardinals in Wesleyan women’s track & field history to win an NCAA national title.
An elite distance runner, Ellen still holds six active school record times combined between the indoor and outdoor seasons. Davis owns the Wesleyan school record for the indoor 5000m (16:43.73), indoor 3000m (9:52.96), outdoor 5000m (16:28.22), outdoor 10,000m (36:20.77), outdoor distance medley relay (12:47.42) and outdoor 4x1500m relay (20:10.27).
