Producing some jaw-dropping numbers over the course of his career, Matt Perceval ’00 rewrote the record books for both Wesleyan and NCAA football over the course of his four-year career.

A three-time NESCAC First Team All-Star and Second Team All-American, Perceval set a new collegiate standard with his seven receiving touchdowns in a 55-28 win over Middlebury in the 1998 season. That single-game performance set a single-game NCAA record (across all divisions) that still stands to this day.

Perceval’s senior season remains one of the greatest individual campaigns in team history, as the wideout produced 73 catches for 1,137 yards and 13 touchdowns in 1999, earning First Team All-American honors. That 73-catch season remains a single-season team record, as does the 14 receiving touchdowns he produced as a junior in 1997.

Over his four-year career, Perceval totaled 166 receptions for 2,879 yards and 36 receiving touchdowns. He averaged 5.2 catches and 90 receiving yards per game while he averaged 17.3 yards per catch. Perceval never missed a game in his four years, appearing in all 32 possible games from 1996-99, and still holds school records for career receiving yards, receiving touchdowns, kickoff return yardage (1,505), and points scored (226).
