Hall of Fame Inductees
Allison Palmer is a North Carolina native and came to Wesleyan after a storied basketball career at Phillips Exeter, where she scored 500 career points and led her team to a prep school championship. Playing at Wesleyan alongside her twin sister Angie, Allison set numerous records, many of which still stand.
Among Allison’s remarkable feats are a host of all-time rebound records. In 1993 she set the record for most rebounds in a game (28 vs. Bates). She still holds the single-season total and average rebound records for capturing 310 rebounds in 23 games (a 13.5 average). And she is also is the all-time career leader in total rebounds with 1,001 over four years and rebound average (11.12). Allison was a prodigious scorer as well. She holds the single-season record for points (488) and scoring average (21.2) and is tied with two other Cardinal women for points scored in a game, at 35.
As a senior Allison was team captain. In that 1994-95 season she started and played in all 23 games, for a total of 857 minutes. Allison received the Jones Award in women’s basketball, the result of being voted MVP by her teammates. She also was named First-Team All-ECAC and was chosen to play in the New England WBCA Senior All-Star Game. Allison Palmer is the only women’s basketball player in Wesleyan history to score 1,000 career points and grab 1,000 career rebounds.
Allison majored in history at Wesleyan and now works in the Bronx as a director of a college access and success program.
