Tom Reifenheiser ’94 is the best tennis player in Cardinal history. Playing at the #1 position, his overall record was 45-3, which included an 11-1 mark in NESCAC play.   A three-time letter winner in both tennis and squash, he went on to achieve national recognition on the tennis court.

Tom’s abilities gained notice early.  A Connecticut native, in 1989 he won the state high school individual tennis championship and was ranked 4th by the USTA in the New England 18-and-under division.  Tom went on to a Division I college, the University of Virginia, but with little playing time as a sophomore and no opportunity to pursue his second sport, squash, he made the decision to transfer to Wesleyan in January 1991.

A history major, Tom competed for three years on the squash team, and played at #1 during his senior year. At the same time, he was compiling an unequalled career performance in Cardinal tennis. With a dual-match singles total of 34-2, he set a Wesleyan record.  He was a two-time NESCAC champion in both singles and doubles and a Division III All-American in each of his three years at Wes. In 1992 Tom went to the Rolex Intercollegiate Tennis Association tournament and won the New England Division III Rolex tournament without losing a set—then repeated that feat at the National Championship. As defending champion, he also won the National Rolex title in 1993. At the end of his college career Tom Reifenheiser was ranked #2 nationally in Division III.

Following graduation Tom spent a number of years in banking and finance. Currently he is President of a real estate firm, Dead Creek Properties.
