Jenna Flateman was an exceptional track athlete at Wesleyan, qualifying for the NCAA finals in all four years. She also competed in field hockey for three years with the Cardinals. Following graduation she went on to excel in rugby.

During her time on campus, Jenna set records in track that still stand today. She is the indoor record holder in the 55-meter dash (:07.03) and the 200-meter dash (:25.71).  She was also a member of the record-setting teams in the 4x200m relay (1:44.74) and sprint medley relay (4:30.65).  Jenna holds the fastest outdoor times for the 100m (:11.90) and the 200m (:24.88), as well as for the sprint medley relay (4:21.78).

Jenna piled up accolades as an undergraduate, including numerous New England Division III, NESCAC, and ECAC titles. In 2001 she won the Jones Award in track and field. She crowned her storied Wesleyan career by winning the 2003 NCAA DIII National Championship in the 55-meter dash.  A three-time Academic All-American, Jenna won seven NCAA All-American titles.

As a field hockey player, Jenna was second in scoring in 2000, while playing all eighteen games, and in 2002 was third in scoring. Her career stats for three years are 16 goals and 8 assists, for a total of 40 points.

Jenna didn’t slow down as an alum.  Turning to rugby, she competed for two years on the U.S. Women’s U-23 team and as an All-Star on the Northeast Rugby Union team. After winning two national titles with the Women’s Fifteens team, she joined the U.S. Women’s Sevens team and played on the national team for seven years.  Leading up to the 2009 Rugby World Cup, Jenna was named among the Top 20 USA Sevens players. In an August 2009 article in the New York Times, David Martin, then a member of the board of the New York Rugby Club and a columnist for Rugby magazine, described Jenna as “incredibly small and incredibly fast.”

Jenna’s hometown is Providence, R.I., and she now lives in Philadelphia, Pa.  An art history major at Wesleyan, she has been employed in the digital world for over a decade. Currently she is VP for Strategic Partnerships at Clutch, a premier loyalty, rewards, and mobile commerce platform for consumer-focused retailers and brands.
