One of the greatest individual talents in team history, Lisa Drennan ’09 still holds team records for most kills per set in a career (4.92), most kills per set in a single -season (5.56), and most kills in a single match (34).
A two-time NESCAC Player of the Year, earning the league’s highest individual honor in her sophomore (2006) and senior seasons (2008), Drennan missed just two matches over her four-year career, appearing in 107 of 109 possible matches. She amassed 1,865 career kills, hitting .298 in 3,960 total attacks, to go along with 1,035 digs and 257 total blocks over 379 career sets played.
Drennan is the only Cardinal in team history to earn four career All-NESCAC honors, earning three First Team distinctions (2006–-08) while she was a Second Team honoree as a first-year in 2005. For three consecutive years (2006–-08), Drennan ranked top five nationally in kills per set while her 1,865 kills rank second in team history.
Her teams went 73-36 over her four years, peaking in 2008 when Wesleyan went 21-7 and 8-2 in NESCAC play. In that 2008 campaign, Drennan totaled 484 kills with a career-best .315 attack percentage in 1,026 attempts, adding 72 total blocks and 264 digs, landing her Second Team All-American honors. She was the first player in team history to earn a spot on one of the three All-America teams as determined by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).
